Berks County FC are off the bottom of the Thames Valley Premier Division after a 2-1 win over Taplow United at Bracknell Sport Centre.

Our local representatives at step 7 lost their opening two games to champions Reading YMCA and Cookham Dean but goals from Shaun Andrews and Anton Hill gave the Swords their first three points of the campaign.

Manager Gary Wood remained in charge over the summer following a reshuffle of management staff and it seems to be paying dividends for County who host Woodcote Stoke/Row at home on Saturday afternoon.

Last season the Swords finished second from bottom in a very competitive position on 22 points. Just eight points separated County and a healthy mid table finish while even bottom side Highmoor-IBIS Reserves were not adrift, finishing on 15 points.
