Our weekly round up of what’s making the back pages of the Hellenic League press, this week including the Bracknell News, Maidenhead Advertiser and Windsor Observer.

Mark Tallentire has admitted he gambled ‘a bit’ during the Winchester City FA Cup defeat after the sending off of Rob Gerrard with the score at 2-0.

The Robins boss – speaking to the Bracknell News said: “We gambled a bit [following the red card] by keeping two strikers on and playing three at the back, but we needed to score to get back in the game.

“It was a bit of a gamble, something we don’t generally do, but we ended up running out of steam and they (Winchester) were able to add a couple more goals.”

Roger Herridge was upbeat after Binfield drew 1-1 with Horndean in the News saying “we had a few round pegs in square holes” after Josh Howell’s late equaliser.

He said: “There were not many poor performances. We had to play well as we would have got rolled over by a good Horndean side.”

Here’s how the Moles got on in the replay.

Flackwell Heath manager Paul Shone has said that his sides 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Didcot Town (who subsequently pulled non league team of the moment Billericay Town out of the hat in the First Qualifying Round) will be difficult to get over.

Speaking to the Maidenhead Advertiser Shone said: “We had a good go at them in the first half but it wasn’t meant to be. Jamie’s scored a good goal and Dean Allen has had a couple of chances which he’s been sticking away in pre-season and in training, but it wasn’t to be.

“It’s even more frustrating because we’d have been away to Billericay Town in the next round and that would have been a fabulous day out for the club.”

A little late to this one, but anyone following the tribulations of Thames Valley Premier League side Wraysbury will be delighted to see the Windsor Observer’s report that the club is in a ‘brilliant situation’ and out of debt.

New chairman Mark Foster said: “We’re now in a brilliant situation, it’s fantastic. We’re up to date with all our payments and the support given by Wraysbury Parish Council has been tremendous. They only ask that the club is run properly.”
