Bracknell Town manager Geoff Warner was bemoaning his sides knack of conceding penalties in his latest Bracknell News interview.

The Robins have conceded four penalties in their last four games and Warner said: “That has just got to stop.

“We can’t expect to win games when we are giving teams a free shot at us.

In the interview with the News’ Dave Wright, Warner added that he’d been disagreeing the Robins were on a bad run but after Saturday’s heavy 7-2 defeat at Ware he said: “I can’t really defend that anymore. We are on a bad run.”

It wasn’t all bad news for Bracknell though as play-off rivals Marlow also lost while Hayes & Yeading United were in FA Trophy action though the latter have three Bostik League South Central Division 1 games in hand.

Also in the News this week, Jamie Tompkins was full of praise for his Ascot United side after the Yellamen went back to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Bishops Cleeve at Ascot Racecourse.

He said: “We showed a lot of fight and character; so much desire and determination.”

There are seven pages of local football news in this weeks Bracknell News, available now.

In the Windsor Observer this week, Royalists boss Mick Woodham has challenged his side to return to form after suffering a first defeat in three against Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday.

Windsor have an ‘away’ derby on Boxing Day against tenants Virginia Water at Stag Meadow.

The Swindon Advertiser reports Shrivenham manager Gareth Davies believes his side are finally starting to get to grips with the Hellenic League Premier Division.

He said: “I’ve been saying it for a long time – the players are more than good enough to be up there, but we’ve not been doing things correctly, we’ve not been taking chances or we’ve been giving stupid goals away.

“In the last month or so, we’ve corrected some of those errors and we’re starting to reap the rewards from it because we’re doing things properly and minimising mistakes.”
