Bracknell Town striker Liam Ferdinand was praised by a former England assistant manager following the Robins 2-1 win at Molesey on Saturday.

Ray Lewington was assistant England manager to Roy Hodgson between 2012 and 2016 and is currently number 2 to the former Three Lions boss at Crystal Palace.

Ferdinand caught the eye, and the Bracknell News’ Dave Wright caught up with Lewington – who was watching his son Craig captain Molesey – after the game.

Lewington senior said: “I thought Bracknell were always the slightly better of the two sides and deserved to win.

“They were a good all round side. Their number 10 [Ferdinand] was a good player. Both teams had lots of chances and it was a pretty good game.”

The Bracknell News is available now in all good newsagents and includes an interview with a frustrated Carl Davies following Saturday’s win.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town boss Sam Collier blamed absentees for his sides ‘lack of game management’ during their 4-3 defeat to Windsor at the weekend. Bassett led 3-0 but allowed the East Berkshire side back in to the game.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Collier said: “It’s very unlikely we’ll have that many missing at once again,’’ said Collier.

“We had three on holidays that were booked before they signed, one at a wedding and one suspended, so hopefully that doesn’t happen again.

“We knew we were going to go there and be extremely light in terms of experience.”

Also in this weeks Bracknell News, Binfield manager Roger Herridge urged his side to show more quality in front of goal following their injury time win over Holmer Green.

The Moles boss said: “We got behind their defence at regular intervals, but were let down by a poor final ball or wayward finishing. We will need to show more quality against Brockenhurst [in the FA Cup].”
