Just over a week since the shock announcement from TJ Bohane that he was headed up to step 4 with Swindon Supermarine after a 48 goal season with Bracknell Town, we talk to the Hellenic hitman about a season that saw the Robins narrowly miss out on promotion but pick up three knock out trophies.
Hi TJ, thanks for talking to us. Firstly congratulations on the move, it’s obviously a bit more local to you but how much more of a challenge is step 4 football?
I think step 4 is big step up from step 5. I think the league more competitive but I definitely think I can make step up as I’ve played there before with Shortwood United.
Was it a tough decision to leave Bracknell? Especially after the phenomenal season you had personally, as well as for the club
It was as the lads, Tally [manager Mark Tallentire] and Kayne [chairman Kayne Steinborne-Busse] have been top class to me from the day I signed but when I look at the travelling and the chance to play a higher level it’s a no brainier.

Talking of the Bracknell move, how did that come about?
I left Wootton Bassett and had a message from Carl Davies who explained what was going on at Bracknell and sounded like a club on the up, which he was very right about
Of the 48 goals, can you pick a favourite?
Ummmm there a few but the boys loved the free kick at Brackley Town Saints that seemed to hit post and bar about four times.
You’ve been prolific in the Hellenic League over the years, can you attribute it to anything specific? When I’ve seen you play you seem to know just where to be on the pitch.
Strange really because I was always a left midfielder till around 22 and my manager at Supermarine Dave webb was out of strikers and played me up there and I scored a hat trick. So he kept me there and I think I scored 15 in the last 9 games of season. I’ve always loved scoring goals and watched players that have so I think it’s always just come to me naturally
One question that’s been asked in our WhatsApp group, if Bracknell had managed to top the division and get promotion, would you have been more likely to stay?
Very hard question to answer and I don’t know the answer my self, it would of been an even harder decision to make.

Okay final one! A lot of the ‘ultras’ were sad to see you go, do you have a message for them?
Hahaha the ultras make he club it is today. I think so many times in games especially the cup finals they pushed us on to win them. I’d like to go on record and say thank you for their support we honestly couldn’t done it without them. I hope to see in few years time them pulling on Bracknell shirt and winning trophies.
