Championship-winning Reading FC defender joins Bracknell Town

Ex-Reading FC captain Alex Pearce has signed for Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town.

Pearce, 35, departed EFL League Two AFC Wimbledon at the end of the 2023/24 season having played 30 times for the Dons in two seasons.

Bracknell announced the signing on Twitter with Pearce saying: “‪I have been working with Jordan [Ive] and the squad during pre season and been impressed with the work both he and the lads have been doing. I am delighted to join a local club with ambition and look forward to playing a part in the new era.‬”

The centre-back is a veteran of 337 Championship appearances, the bulk of those with Reading and Millwall, as well as 19 Premier League games, all with the Royals. He played 46 times during Reading’s Championship winning 2011/12 season.

Wallingford-born Pearce played under 19 and under 21 football for Scotland and has nine full Ireland caps.

Bracknell have confirmed the departure of KJ Osu from the club.
