Danish international Sanne Troelsgaard has had her Reading FC Women contract mutually terminated.

The 35-year-old midfielder had stayed with the Royals following relegation from the FA WSL last season and was the standout player when Football in Berkshire watched the Royals in December against Crystal Palace.

Still a member of the Denmark national team, Troelsgaard has over 180 caps to her name.

A statement released by Reading said: “Throughout her time with the Royals, Troelsgaard has been a consistent presence, featuring regularly under the management of Kelly Cousins and, this season, under the stewardship of Liam Gilbert.

“Everyone at Reading Football Club extends its gratitude to Sanne for her significant contribution to the team and wishes her the very best in her upcoming challenges and future endeavors.”

Reading – who have Northern Ireland international Jackie Burns back in training – are in FA Women’s Cup action on Sunday at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The match is to be played at Aldershot Town (ko 2pm).
