The destination of Ascot United forward Brendan Matthew has been confirmed as Isthmian League rivals Southall.
The forward scored 67 goals in 76 matches for the Yellas over a season and a half which included lifting the FA Vase at Wembley Stadium.
A Southall tweet said: “We’re pleased to announce the signing of forward Brendan Matthew on a long term deal following his successful spell at Ascot United.
“With 21 goals to his name so far this season, we’re delighted to add him to the group.
“We’d like to thank everyone at Ascot for their cooperation with the transfer. Welcome to Southall Brendan.”
Southall are currently third in the Isthmian League South Central Division One, well inside the play-off chase. They currently groundshare with Burnham.
On Tuesday, Ascot fans paid tribute to the striker who conquered the Racecourse Ground and won the Combined Counties League. Match reporter Neal Jeffs wrote: “Thank you B for just the most amazing stint at our club. What you gave us we will never forget, and may the next club know they are getting the jewel in their crown. You will always be our diamond striker. Best wishes and see you soon.”
