Reading FC Women have had a busy Friday announcing two new signings for the upcoming FA Women’s Championship season.
21-year-old midfielder Georgia Wilson has joined the Royals from Danish side AaB where she has played since the end of the 2020/21 season when she left Bristol City.
Wilson has ambitions for the season under new manager Liam Gilbert, saying on the Reading website: “After last season’s finish, the goal we’ve all set is to get back promoted into the WSL where the club belongs.”
Reading’s second signing is a ‘homecoming’ for former Royals Academy player Rachel Dugdale.
The defender has plenty of experience in England’s top two divisions having impressed enough in Reading’s academy system to earn a move to Doncaster Belles in 2016 – winning the FA WSL title in 2018.
A Northern Ireland international, Dugdale moved on to Charlton Athletic and most recently Coventry United.
Equally ambitious Dugdale said: “Despite the changes in the summer, the club have managed to retain a lot of really high quality players. So we definitely want to be competitive right at the top of the league. And personally, to try and get as many minutes across the season, and help in any way I can to make this year a successful one.”
