Reading City have added another player with FA Vase Final experience to their ranks following the addition of former Binfield full-back Jack Thomson-Wheeler.
The versatile ‘Thommo’ joins from Combined Counties League Division One Bedfont where he played 24 times scoring six goals as his side narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.
The defender was also part of Binfield’s historic run to the FA Vase Final in 2021 where he came on as a second-half substitute at Wembley Stadium in the 3-2 defeat to Warrington Rylands.
Writing on the club’s website, Cityzens boss Simon Johnson said: “Jack is not only an excellent footballer who has had great success at this level previously, he is also an excellent character off the pitch. He epitomises everything we look for in our players and will make an excellent addition to an already talented squad. He’s a versatile player who can play both at the back and in midfield.”
City finished third last season, narrowly missing out on the promotion play-off and will undoubtedly be aiming to go one step further this coming season.
Thomson-Wheeler will potentially link up with a number of familiar faces from his Binfield days including Joel Valentin, Charlie York, Jemel Johnson, Tyler D’Cruz and Phil Veal.
