Goalkeeper Hugo Sobte is back within the borders of Royal Berkshire after signing on with Ascot United.
The former Windsor goalkeeper had been with Hanwell Town since 2019 but has switched to the newly promoted Yellas for the 2023/24 season.
Highly regarded during his time at Windsor where he was captain, the stopper successfully made the step up from Step 5 to 4 when he joined Hanwell.
At the time, Football in Berkshire wrote: “The keeper played 49 times for Windsor last season, more than any other Windsor player as the Royalists finished seventh and reached the Hellenic League Challenge Cup Final as well as the fifth round of the FA Vase.”
Sobte’s youth career had a touch of glamour to it as well, the goalkeeper was part of a Chelsea Academy with West Ham’s Europa Conference League winning captain Declan Rice and sought after midfielder Mason Mount.
As well as making a name for himself on the pitch, Sobte was one of the stars of Windsors famous Union Jack kit advertising campaign.
The Yellas had been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after FA Vase hero Rhys Forster’s loan from Slough Town ended and he opted to join Isthmian League Premier Division Enfield Town.
