FA Women’s National League side Maidenhead United have announced the signing of Alicia Povey from Wycombe Wanderers.

Povey, who had spent 10 years with Wycombe, will step up a level to join Maidenhead as well as continue to play for Reading Royals Women in the FA National Futsal series which recently picked up a TV deal with BT Sport.

Announcing the signing, Maidenhead’s Twitter account said: “A massive welcome to Alicia Povey, who is the latest addition to the squad! We can’t wait to see her in action.”

Povey herself wrote: “Retirement didn’t suit me. Very grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started back in the FAWNL.”

As well as Wycombe, Povey spent time playing and competing in Russia and Spain and has also featured for Penn & Tylers Green, Marlow, Larkhall Athletic and Almondsbury Ladies.

As well as her on the field roles, Povey is part of the Wycombe Wanderers media team and an occasional Football in Berkshire contributor. You can listen to her podcast with us below:
