Maidenhead United have made their sixth summer signing, having secured the loan signing of Reading Under 23 Goalkeeper James Holden.
Holden joined the Magpies on an emergency loan basis back in May, following injuries to Taye Ashby-Hammond and Rhys Lovett. The 19-year-old played in the final five games of the Magpies 2020/21 Vanarama National League campaign, keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw at Yeovil Town and generally looking at home between the sticks for Alan Devonshire’s team.
The youngster has previously enjoyed a spell at Bracknell Town which was disrupted by injury and will compete for a starting place with goal-scoring gloves-man Rhys Lovett who signed on again with the Magpies last week.
Holden will come up against his Reading Under 23 colleagues on Friday 6th August 2021 when the cream of the Royals young crop will travel down the A4 for a pre-season fixture.
Maidenhead’s National League campaign kicks off on Saturday 21st August with a visit to FC Halifax Town.
