Award winning Charley Evans moving up the pyramid

Woodley United defender headed to FA Women's National League

Woodley United Ladies have announced that centre back Charley Evans is to join Southampton FC Women next season.

Evans – who scooped the Player of the Season award at the Bracknell Football Awards in June, will join the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division champions.

Southampton won the division and promotion to the fourth tier with Evans catching the eye during the two teams clashes in the Premier Division this season.

A statement on the Woodley United Ladies twitter account says: “It’s with great disappointment & also happiness to confirm that our very own Charley Evans will be joining Southampton FC Women next season. Charley has been an outstanding player since joining us & we look forward to seeing her show her capabilities in the league above.”

At the Bracknell Football Awards, Evans commitment to her team was highlighted during one game when she broke and dislocated two fingers, during treatment her response was “just tape them up, I’m not coming off.”
