Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town have finally put an end to a run of eight away games without a win.
The Robins were 3-2 winners at fourth-placed Merthyr Town on Saturday making it two wins in a row following the 2-1 win at home to Salisbury.
Merthyr by contrast had won five of their last six league games at home but it was the travelling Robins who were celebrating all the way home after Max Herbert opened the scoring on 20 minutes.
The teams were level at half time but Ashley Lodge quickly restored the lead after the break from the penalty spot after Herbert was brought down. His initial penalty was saved but the Robins captain managed to score the rebound.
Bracknell then had a goal disallowed but Joe Grant made it 3-1 before the home side pulled one back in injury time.
For Bracknell it was very much the end of a long period of away days without a win. The Robins beat Dorchester Town 2-1 on Tuesday 14th November 2023 and then picked up just a point in the following eight games on the road.
Elsewhere in the division, there was no joy at home for Hungerford Town as they were beaten 1-0 by Walton & Hersham. The two sides and Bracknell are now queued outside the division’s play-offs waiting to take advantage.
