Ascot United are through to the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round for the first time in the clubs history after a 1-0 win at home to Westfield.

The Yellas left it very late but Olly McCoy struck a terrific long-range effort in injury time to break Westfield hearts with the game looking like heading to a replay.

Not to be outdone, Reading City are also in uncharted territory after they beat Shaftsbury 3-1 at the Rivermoor.

The Cityzens were 2-0 up at the break through Dan Warre and Callum Stokes but the visitors pulled one back in the 94th minute of an extensive injury time period following a injury to Shaftsbury’s goalkeeper.

Drama in the remaining minutes though as Shaftsbury had a player sent off and Tyler D’Cruz made it 3-1.

Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town are also through with the Robins beating Harrow Borough 2-0 through a Joe Grant strike and a first Robins goal for George Franklin.

Hungerford Town advanced in their opening match in this season’s competition with a 4-0 win at home to Petersfield Town.

Conor McDonagh scored the opening two goals for Hungerford while Luke Carnell and Matt Partridge added some gloss to the finish.

Binfield however will have it all to do again after a 2-2 home draw with Northwood. The third time the two sides will have played each other in eight days when Tuesday night’s replay kicks off.

Noah Chengun had given Binfield a 2-0 lead but the visitors were able to fight back to earn a replay.

The draw for the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round is due on Monday 4th September 2023. Matches are due to take place on the weekend of Saturday 16th September 2023. A full list of FA Cup round dates for 2023/24 is here.
