On Monday night, six season’s since first entering the Emirates FA Cup, Reading City made club history in reaching the First Qualifying Round.
The Cityzens were held by United Counties League Premier Division Easington Sports to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon, but blasted their way through the replay with doubles from forwards Eddie Lee and Tyler D’Cruz.
Lee scored twice before half time, the first capitalising on an Eddie Lazarczuk throw while the second came after a series of headers found Lee from Josh Valentin’s cross.
It was 3-0 on the hour through D’Cruz and he wrapped things up with 15 left to play meaning Reading will now host Wessex League Premier Division Shaftsbury.
