“We owed them a favour” Darryl Jelly on Eversley & California’s play-off payback

Eversley & California will be a Step 5 side for the first time in the club’s history after winning the Combined Counties League Division play-offs, but before all that the Boars had a debt to repay.

Co-manager Darryl Jelly joined the Berkshire Football Stories podcast to explain how the Boars ‘owed’ Woodley United a favour on the final game of the regular season when they faced Windsor.

Woodley beat Oxhey Jets 5-0 at home but needed Eversley to beat or draw with Windsor to complete ‘the great escape’ and get out of the relegation zone at the very last attempt – having occupied the bottom three all season.
