It’s tight at the bottom of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North but relegation-threatened Windsor and Wokingham & Emmbrook both posted wins on Saturday.
Windsor moved off the bottom with a last-gasp 3-2 win at Spelthorne Sports when the home sides Rayan Djoudji turned the ball into his own net after the Royalists had first equalised and then lead in Middlesex.
Manager Mick Woodham described Windsor’s two-goal Oliver Barbosa Costa as ‘the best player on the park’ and acknowledged his side had become accustomed to making life hard for themselves.
The win puts Windsor above Oxhey Jets whose game on Saturday was postponed and within two points of Chalfont St Peter and Wokingham with games in hand.
Forthcoming Windsor fixtures are here.
Talking of Wokingham & Emmbrook, the Sumas picked up a much-needed three points with a 2-0 win at London Lions as they bid to stay at Step 5.
Jakes Woods and Brandon Curtis got the goals as Wokingham kept a clean sheet in Barnet.
The Sumas have five games of the season remaining and will need to make the most of the fixtures against the teams around them in table.

Meanwhile, Thatcham Town threw a spanner in Chertsey Town’s promotion hopes and helped Berkshire neighbours Binfield with their own play-off challenge by beating the Curfews 2-1 at the Stacatruc Stadium.
Joshua Edwards and Simeon Weekes scored either side of Troy Walters as the Kingfishers continued their upward trajectory in the Isthmian League South Central Division One.
Yashwa Romeo’s side probably don’t quite have the games left to sneak into the Isthmian League play-offs, but continuing this form into next season would put Thatcham in a very strong position.
