Combined Counties League Division One Langley saw off Premier Division Chalfont St Peter 6-1 in the First Qualifying Round of the 2022/23 FA Vase.

The Slough-based side were behind early on but ‘exploded’ into life in the second half, writes Paul Smithson.

Chalfont setup playing one upfront and the striker David Levy didn’t get a chance at the goal all night. He was very frustrated.

Langley started the game by passing around their defence, the visitors Tecane Shrowder scored the first goal of the game from a free kick but as the half went on Langley started getting on top. Chalfont then gave away a penalty which Dimitris Savva converted with ease. Half time 1-1.

The second half exploded into a terrific game. Chalfont gave away another penalty which was conceded after a great save by a Chalfont’s Sean McGuinness who was duly sent off and which Savva tucked away again.

Langley were knocking the ball around nicely and Chalfont just couldn’t cope with it. Kushon Lewis-Thomas score two identical goals in quick succession. He received a great ball through, outpaced the defender and put it under the keeper for both. 4-1.

The score could have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for the Chalfont goalkeeper who was making some great saves. For the home side Abdul Nurein was sent off for two yellows, but straight after that Flavio Gyawu-Kyem scored another goal for Langley who were running rampant. 5-1.

Putting a ribbon on proceedings, To put a ribbon on the result Henry Samuel Kolade Akintayo Okenla then made it 6-1.

Savva ran the midfield like a conductor in an orchestra on the night, scoring the two penalties and was definitely Man of the Match. A fantastic game from start to finish. It had everything. Pens, free kick scored, yellow cards, red cards, you name it this game had it all.
