Binfield and Ascot United are both in the hat for the FA Vase Third Round draw which we presume will be at 1pm on Monday afternoon.

The Moles flew out of the traps at home to Redhill on Saturday, hitting the post in the opening minutes before a George Short cross from the right was bundled over the line by a Redhill player.

Shortly after it was 2-0, Sean Moore converting from the penalty spot and it looked like it was going to be a long afternoon for the visitors.

That all changed on 28 minutes when Morgan Jenden fired home from some distance to make it 2-1.

There was no further score before half time but Redhill certainly came out stronger in the second half and looked the more likely to grab the next goal.

However, things seemed to boil over for the Combined Counties League side when they were reduced to 10 men on 65 minutes.

Anger increased when Binfield earned a penalty when Josh Helmore was tripped in the box on 71 minutes that Sean Moore dispatched to make the game safe.

Ultimately, Binfield were professional under pressure in the second half and go in to the hat for the third round for the first time since 2013/14.

Unfortunatetly, Windsor fell at the first hurdle with a heavy 7-1 defeat at home to Eastbourne Town.

The Royalists certainly had chances but the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division leaders proved to strong.

Ascot United’s tie at Abbey Rangers was postponed due to the weather, it is due to be played on Tuesday 5th November.
