In the Combined Counties League Division One Sandhurst Town continued their strong start to the season with a hard-fought win over Godalming Town at Bottom Meadow.

The Fizzers took a first half lead after a well worked free kick. Luke Cox took the set piece, Grant Kemp flicked it on, and Sam Green was on hand to tap the ball in. It took until late in the game for Sandhurst to make the game secure when Bradley Brown played the ball through for Owen Davies to finish well.

There was still time for Godalming to make the finish more nervous when they grabbed a goal back in the dying moments of the game, but Sandhurst held on for the win, and they remain in second place ahead of Saturday’s top of the table clash at leaders Jersey Bulls.

Eversley & California travelled to face Chessington & Hook at their Chalky Lane ground, hoping for a win that would lift them off the foot of the table, and put them level on points with their opponents.

After a goalless first half the Boars took the lead shortly after the break when Connor Harlow squared the ball to Kai Francis and the strikers scuffed shot managed to find the back of the net. The lead lasted less than 10 minutes as the hosts levelled with a close-range effort after Liam Vaughan had saved an initial strike. The game finished 1-1, a result that ended a run of 3 games without a point for Eversley.

In the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup Wokingham & Emmbrook welcomed Hellenic Division One East leaders Risborough Rangers to Lowther Road.

The Sumas were looking to become the first team to beat Risborough in any competition this season, and they took the lead with 35 minutes gone when Joshua Harris latched onto a backheeled assist from Connor Holland to score. In an end to end game the score remained 1-0 until the 77th minute when the visitors got back on level terms.

With the score remaining 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes the game went straight to penalties and after a back and forth shootout, in which both sides had shots saved, it was Risborough who eventually secured the victory, 4-3, and progress to the next round.

In the Hellenic Division One East Langley hosted AFC Aldermaston in a Berkshire derby with both sides looking for a win after indifferent starts to their respective seasons. Neither side were able to claim all the points with the match finishing 2-2. The result sees the Atomics rise to 7th in the table where as Langley lift themselves off bottom spot and up to 15th.

At Arbour Park Chalvey Sports had an afternoon to forget as they suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of Penn& Tylers Green. Trailing 1-0 in the 40th minute, the Stabmonks were reduced to 10 men when Ayden Christian-Coomber received his marching orders.

In the second half things got much worse for Chalvey as they conceded a further 4 goals and had Jason Marney sent off as they finished the game with 9 men and on the wrong side of a 5-0 score line.
