A moment of quality from McKoy Palmer sent Reading City on their way to three points at home to Lydney Town on Saturday at Scours Lane.
City had been the dominant side in the first half of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division clash but it was Lydney who took the lead in the second half with a penalty when previously a goalless draw had looked the most likely outcome.
Minutes later though, Reading were level after great work down the left by McKoy Palmer who cut inside and fired across the goalkeeper.
Shortly after Josh Blackwood hit the post in a bit of a statement of intent from Simon Johnson’s side and when Matt Stockill broke away down the right it was 2-1 to the Citizens.
