The 2019/20 SSE Women’s FA Cup is over already for two of Berkshire’s four entrants after Ascot United and Newbury both exited at the Preliminary Round stage on Sunday.

The two Southern Region Women’s League Premier Division sides fell at the first hurdle, both knocked out by sides a division below them.

Ascot faced Division One Abingdon Town in what was a home fixture played at Abingdon’s ground due to ongoing work at the Racecourse Ground.

The Yellawomen were 2-1 down going in to half time after Hannah Evans had pulled one back for Ascot but Town were back in front five minutes after the restart.

Lucie Kroutilova gave Darrel Evans side a chance at 3-2 but it was Abingdon who went forward in the draw.
