It almost seemed like the frustrations of Saturday’s postponements exploded on Tuesday night with a glut of goals, that may or may not be true but for the sake of this correspondents sanity we’ll go with it.

Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup holders Binfield went through to the Quarter Finals but only after a penalty shoot out in Gloucestershire with Brimscombe & Thrupp.

The Moles were 2-0 down early in the second half but fought back with goals from Ian Davies and Gary Smith before the hosts hit what looked like the winner on 73 minutes.

It was extra time though when Binfield levelled again in injury time and when there were no further goals in extra time it was penalties.

Both sides scored their first two, but Brimscombe missed strikes three and four while Binfield buried their penalties to win the shoot out 4-2 – Charley Tuttle hitting the winning spot kick.

Ascot United also advanced after a 5-0 win over 9-man Division 2 East side Langley at the Racecourse Ground.

There were two red cards in the game while Ascot gave a debut to Sheridan Campbell and there were goals from Elliot Carey, Usman Lalustani, George Lock and substitutes Luqman Kassim and Dan Price.

Windsor are also through after a 3-1 win at Lydney Town on a night when their new young star Dan Roberts scored twice and veteran star Barry Hayles scored once as the Royalists bounced back quickly from their FA Vase disappointment.

Division One East Wokingham & Emmbrook took Premier Division Flackwell Heath to extra time after Nick Bateman had given the Sumas an early lead, only for the Heathens to recover at 2-1 and Ellis Day hit a late leveller. The home side won the game 3-2 with a goal in the first half of extra time.

In Division One East, Woodley United lost out 4-3 at Penn & Tylers Green with no little controversy in the closing moments.

Pablo Fernandez and Max Laschok had sent the two sides in level at 2-2 at half time but Penn scored again on the hour only to see Chace Jewell set up a tense final few minutes.

And what a few minutes it was, United had a goal disallowed on 88 minutes for offside, the referee judging the ball hit a Kestrels player on the way to the net while Penn’s winner in injury time was contested by the Woodley players about whether the ball crossed the line.

Finally, Sandhurst Town went out of the Aldershot Senior Cup to Combined Counties Premier Division side Knaphill on a wet night at Bottom Meadow.
