Binfield’s Amy Martin struck the penalty in the second half that earned the Moles a 2-2 draw and a point in their fight back against Thames Valley Counties Women’s League Division 2 East leaders Abbey Rangers Reserves.

Binfield had been 2-0 down at the break but a first competitive goal for Ruth Bowerman was followed up when she was felled in the box, with Martin stepping up confidently to get the equaliser.

It could have been all three points for Binfield late on as well, Charisse-Ellouise Tregear forcing the visitors goalkeeper in to a terrific one handed save while in the first half Leanne Harkins had to mop at the back when Rangers should have scored.

In the Southern Region Women’s League Premier Division, Ascot United were beaten by the odd goal in seven as Oxford City beat them 4-3. Sarah Davern, Stephanie Fettes and Jennifer Thraves got the goals for the Yellawomen while Division 1 side Wokingham & Emmbrook continued their improvement despite a 3-2 league cup defeat to Premier Division Newbury.

Speaking of Division 1, Wargrave were beaten by Alton 4-2 – Priya Barmi and Hannah Sheehan getting the goals and Sandhurst Town were beaten 6-0 on the Isle of Wight by Shanklin.
