Bracknell Town are out of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup after a semi final defeat to Thatcham Town in front of a crowd of 277.

A much changed Bracknell side were beaten 2-0 by the FA Vase finalists at Larges Lane on Thursday night thanks in no small part to a sublime fourth minutes Shane Cooper-Clark free kick which you can watch below.

The Robins included three regular starters in Seb Bowerman, Chris Grace and Jamie McClurg for the semi final and Damien Smith captained the side, but they couldn’t keep out the Blues who will face Binfield in the final after Jemel Johnson doubled the lead on 21 minutes.

There was a further blow for Bracknell – who were managed by Bob Creech and Andy Findlay on the night as substitute Kensley Maloney received a straight red card on 75 minutes and will likely receive a three match ban.

Both sides of course have bigger fish to fry, Bracknell’s sole aim this season has been promotion and they are on course to achieve that goal and will face either Thatcham or Abingdon United in the final of the Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

The other Thursday night result saw Highworth Town move back to the top of the table with a 3-2 win over Windsor. The Worthians will play their final game of the season on Monday night at home to Thatcham.
