A much changed Bracknell Town side advanced into the quarter finals Perpetua Press Hellenic Floodlit Cup after defeating Didcot Town Reserves 6-2 last night with Jon Bennett scoring four of those goals.
Victory for the side led by under 23 bosses Andy Findlay and Rob Creech was slightly soured by the red card to Carl Withers for kicking out which means he will be suspended for the Buildbase FA Vase quarter final match a week on Saturday.
There were no goals in the opening thirty minutes although Max Herbert struck the post but a first half Bennett hat-trick sent the Robins on their way.
Firstly he headed in a cross before a superb through ball set up his second. His third goal was sublime though chesting down a right wing cross and firing home.
Withers saw red on 55 minutes before Herbert swept the ball in but two Didcot goals gave them hope as Alex Marshall fired home from 25 yards before Chris Mortimer pounced after Karl Steinborn-Busse had parried a shot.
Any hope of a home comeback was extinguished when Dan Read scored a penalty and there was still time for Bennett to burst though on goal and net his fourth.
