Carol Checkley fires Ascot United Reserves to big League Cup win

Ascot United Reserves Carol Checkley scored five as the Yellawomen beat Thatcham Town 19-1 in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s League Plate Second Round.

The competition is for clubs knocked out of the League Cup first round and Checkley was joined on the scoresheet by Courtney Gibbons (4), Heather Williams (3), Rebecca Eke, Harriet Fry, Louise Pullen, Mollie Wells, Sacha Williams, Kim Barnes-Dallas and Hannah Cornish.

Both Carol and Courtney have been added to the ‘Most Goals scored in a Match’ leaderboard.

Elsewhere in the League Cup, Sandhurst Town were beaten 13-1 by Abbey Rangers, Laura Noble scoring the Fizzers only goal.

In the Southern Region Women’s Football League, Ascot’s first team kept the gap at the top at five point between themselves in second place and leaders Chesham United with a 3-1 win at home to New Milton Town, Lucie Kroutilova, Hannah Evans and Sarah Davern with the goals while in the Jubilee Cup Wokingham & Emmbrook went out to a 7-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth CST and Wargrave lost 8-5 to Warsash Wasps.
