There were goals all across the opening day of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East with 32 scored on the opening day of proceedings.
Four of those went to Wokingham & Emmbrook who won 4-2 at AFC Aldermaston courtesy of Elliott Rushforth, though Kai Parton-Edey equalised for the hosts shortly after.
Controversy followed for the Sumas with debutant Ben Knight apparently shown a red card – only for the referee to reverse his decision. Of course Knight went on to net for Dan Bateman’s side while Luke Scope also scored and Rushforth (pictured) added a second – Dan Alliston got a late consolation for the Atomics.
There was late despair for Sandhurst Town who succumbed to a late 3-2 defeat at Didcot Town Reserves. Myles White had given Luke Turkington’s side the lead while Wilcox pulled them back level after going 2-1 down, shortly after Matt Watson had saved a Didcot penalty.
And their was a great start to a debut Hellenic League season for Virginia Water who defeated Chalfont Wasps 4-3 at Stag Meadow.
