Woodley United’s rather convoluted time in the 2016/17 Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup is over after they were beaten 4-2 at Scours Lane after extra time on Tuesday night.

We’ve attempted to explain how the Kestrels have fared in the competition this season here, but on Tuesday evening the Gloucestershire Hellenic Premier Division visitors were too strong for the Division 1 East promotion hopefuls.

Jake Nicholls and Greg Beckett got the goals for Woodley after Lydney had levelled the scores at 2-2 to take the tie in to extra time.

Elsewhere, it was a miserable night for Ascot United in the Hellenic Premier as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to bottom side Henley Town.

The Yellamen were 2-0 down going in to injury time when Matthew Forder pulled back a consolation for Neil Richard’s men who are still looking for a first league win under their new manager.
