Early goal enough for Bracknell Town in Binfield Hellenic Premier derby

It took a solitary TJ Bohane goal in the first half to get Bracknell Town back to winning ways – and back to the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division on Monday night at Binfield’s Hill Farm Lane.

Binfield boss Roger Herridge had said he planned an ‘uncomfortable night’ for the Robins who drew 1-1 with title rivals Flackwell Heath on Saturday and it certainly was that with the Moles having several chances to equalise in the final 15 minutes.

The goal that settled it though came in the 13th minute, Jamie McClurg’s corner headed on by Carl Davies and back-heeled home by Bohane.

Bracknell boss Mark Tallentire kept faith with Kensley Maloney who deputised for the injured Joe Grant while captain Davies returned to the centre of defence in place of new signing Diak John.

Binfield had Mo Nyamunga back in goal after being forced off on Saturday and manager Roger Herridge said post match ‘Didn’t quite happen for us this evening but no disgrace in losing to a very good Bracknell Town side.’

Both clubs will meet again at least twice more this season in the Hellenic League Cup and eagerly anticipated County Cup Final.

Teams

Binfield: Nyamunga, Broome, Luis, Bayley, Brown, Smith, Hayden, Dean, Knight, Ferdinand, Bennett.

Bracknell: Grace, Hancock, Gray, Withers, Smith, Davies, Maloney, McClurg, Cornell, Bohane, Bowerman.
