Ascot United repaired some of the damage done by the surprise defeat to Burnham on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Oxford City Nomads at Ascot Racecourse.

The Yellamen lead through Jamie West in the first half only for Conor Harris to level in the second for Nomads who also had Matthew Peake-Pinjen sent off and a late penalty appeal waved away.

Our man at the game Mark Pugh said: “I felt it was the best first half performance I have seen from Ascot this season. Full of pace and made good use of the formation.

“Oxford fought back after going behind and it was a lapse in concentration from Ascot that let them back in. The sending off was a fair call from the referee, the Nomads defender was the last man with Ascot running in on goal.”
