It was hardly the weather for football as temperatures reached 30 degrees across the country on Tuesday, but that didn’t stop our clubs heading out onto the green stuff for the latest round of pre season friendlies.

These games will have been just that little bit more intense as well after the first round of fixtures for the 2016/17 Hellenic Premier League season were announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Bracknell Town defeated last seasons Hellenic League Division 1 East champions Penn & Tylers Green 6-1 at Easthampstead Park School.

The Robins saw doubles for new signings Lee Boon and Joe Grant while Danny Wing and Carl Davies also added their names to the scoresheet.

Roger Herridge’s Binfield got themselves a 1-0 win on the road at Holyport thanks to James Knight. Herridge described the game as a “worthwhile workout against a well organised team, but we really need to work on an end product.”

Josh Dillon, Kaser Chowdhary and Charlie Hiscox were on the mark for Woodley United and new boss Michael Herbert as they beat Tilehurst Albion.
