For most of our local sides Saturday was the first chance to get out on the green stuff in anger as Bracknell Town, Binfield and Wokingham & Emmbrook were in action.

There was a win for Binfield against Badshot Lea. The Moles were 2-1 winners with Roger Herridge particularly pleased with Development Team goalkeeper Liam Vaughan.

He said: “Delighted in our afternoons work where we conceded an early goal after 30 seconds to recover to win comfortably 2-1 . Tom Williams scored both goals for us and ‘keeper Liam Vaughan looked very comfortable between the sticks deputising for Garry Aulsbury who is away on holiday.

Wokingham & Emmbrook played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Cockfosters – all the more pleasing for the Sumas considering they trailled 4-1 their Spartan South Midlands League Premier visitors at half-time.

Tweeter @woodrowalex posted a video of Jake Wheeler’s double that levelled things up for Wokingham:

Bracknell Town were beaten 3-2 by Combined Counties Premier Division side Camberley Town but there was better news for their under 21 side who made a winning start to the FootballinBracknell pre season cup with an 8-2 win over Ascot United.

Elsewhere Woodley United were beaten 2-1 by Southern League Marlow – Jake Nicholls got the goal for United.
