Binfield CA 1 Sunningdale 4: Blanchard, Murphy and Penny goals enough for the cup

Sunningdale & Wentworth lifted the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League Senior Cup on Friday night at Bracknell Town’s Larges Lane ground with a 4-1 victory over Binfield Club Athletic.

The two Premier Division sides went head to head on a warm night and served up a five goal feast for the crowd on a dry a and dusty surface that saw goals from man of the match Paul Blanchard (2),  Dave Penny and Brian Murphy seal the trophy for Sunningdale while Binfield captain Tom Williams pulled one back from the penalty spot.

The latest triumph was an eighth trophy for Sunningdale manager Alan Matthias in three years and is a remarkable run for the side who finished third in the league behind champions FC Fernhill and Finchampstead Athletic.
