Rare midweek football in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East as Woodley United continue their promotion push at home to Wantage Town Reserves and Finchampstead head to Didcot Town Reserves.

Woodley are officially looking at taking a spot in the Premier Division for the 2017/18 season according to General Manager Mark Rozzier but half of that dream will be played out on the pitch with the Kestrels needing to finish in at least the top three – they currently occupy second spot with four games in hand on the majority of teams around them.

In Woodley’s favour is the return from injury of forward Charlie Oakley – the striker scored twice in the 3-1 win over Holyport at the weekend as well as the opposition’s leaky defence that has seen them bottom of the division for much of the season with a goal difference of -94.

Third place Finchampstead can solidify a top four finish after a simply superb second half of the season and could well make it five in a row with a win in the surrounds of Didcot Power Station and the Railwaymen’s not unpleasant Loop Meadow.

Traffic note: If you are headed to matches tonight, please be aware of travel disruption on the M4
