Binfield manager Roger Herridge highlighted his sides lack of clinical edge after an injury time equaliser gave Virginia Water a point in Monday nights Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division fixture at Hill Farm Lane.

Speaking to the Bracknell News, Herridge said of the goal that went in off captain James Knight: “We shot ourselves in the foot and we’ve been doing that quite a few times in recent weeks.”

The Moles had earlier seen striker Ian Davies miss a penalty before Jemel Johnson scored from open play.

A rare goal from Bracknell Town captain Dave Hancock gave the Robins a point of their own on Saturday. Manager Geoff Warner joked: “I thought it was his first in the three years I have been here, but he said he scored a couple in the first year – they must have faded from my memory.”

In transfer news, Hellenic Premier side Shrivenham have lost goalkeeper Matthew Crowther to Evo Stik Southern Division One side Aylesbury – the stopper has signed on a dual registration agreement with parent club Didcot Town.

Holyport boss Derek Sweetman has been talking to the Windsor Observer about the pros and cons of cup football with his side due to defend their Hellenic League Supplementary Cup title at the weekend.

He said: “Any cup competition that you’re in at this stage of the season gives you a chance and a little bit of hope. We’re still in a few, which is good to turn your focus away from the league, but it’s also relentless.”

The Port face Malmesbury Victoria on Saturday.
