With Sunday’s Berks & Bucks County FA Women’s Senior Cup tie between Caversham United and Reading FC complete the stage is set for the Quarter Finals.

Reading beat their Goat neighbours on penalties at Mapledurham after a 1-1 draw in normal time and will now face a challenging last eight fixture against FA Women’s National League South West Division One side Abingdon United.

The Royals are currently the holders but as regular readers will know, this is a very different Reading side than the under 21s lead by Natasha Rasmussen to a County Cup title win over MK Dons.

By league position alone, Maidenhead United go into the quarters as favourites to lift the trophy with MK Dons already out and Reading a very different proposition.

The Magpies can call on the services and experience of Rasmussen and several former Reading teammates when they face Southern Region Women’s League Division One North Beaconsfield Town.

Berkshire’s third representatives in the Quarter Finals are Ascot United who host Newport Pagnell Town and will certainly have the belief they can cause an upset or two following a fine start to the season.
