There was more than one shock in the FA Women’s Championship on Sunday afternoon as Reading FC Women beat Sunderland and Lewes held league leaders Charlton Athletic.
In the former, it was Madison Perry who provided the sucker punch to the 10 player Black Cats, but Sunderland’s blushes were spared somewhat by Aimee Claypole scoring her first senior goal in the 1-1 draw the Addicks.
Claypole is on loan on the South Coast from Chelsea having signed a first professional contract with the Blues before Christmas.

In Reading, it was Madison Perry who provided the goalscoring touch in a 1-0 win over Sunderland. The Black Cats may feel they did enough to win the game but is was the Royals who capitalised on one of only a handful of clear cut chances.
A fantastic strike from Madison Perry to find the bottom corner 🙌#BarclaysWC @ReadingFCWomen pic.twitter.com/cV6QZplGOi
