If there were any doubts about Binfield’s ability to make it two wins in a row having not won a league game all season – they were discarded by full-time in the Isthmian League on Saturday.
Ethan Lindo scored the only goal of the game at home to second-placed Southall – a side very much in the hunt to make an immediate leap to Step 3.
Beating Met Police was one thing, the two sides are in the same half of the table, Southall quite another, so it is full credit to Ross Weatherstone for the turnaround he has overseen at the club since taking over from Garry Haylock.
For the Moles, it’s two wins chalked off the expected 10 needed to amass a suitable points total for survival with 18 games to go. It’s still a tough ask, but the confidence will be flowing through these Moles players.
After the game, Weatherstone said: “It feels better than last week based on the events that happened after the game. It was nice to be able to celebrate the three points properly. It was great to get the chairman and everyone involved in the club in the dressing room after the game. The aim is to bring the club together, galvanise and celebrate the hard work that everyone is doing and it’s really nice to see some smiles back on faces in and around the club.”
Further good news for the Moles was the reported attendance of forward Tyler D’Cruz who had been hospitalised followed Binfield’s win at Met Police.
Next up for the Moles is a home tie with Westfield on Tuesday 30th January.
