England off and running at Deaf World Cup in Malaysia

Clodagh Farrell and Dawn Perry-Lewis have both now started games for England at the Deaf World Cup in Malaysia.

Farrell started England’s 2-0 opening defeat to Turkey on Saturday while Perry-Lewis was in the starting line-up for the 2-1 win over Japan.

Farrell – of Ascot United, and Perry-Lewis of Yateley United are part of the England Deaf Women’s Football Squad that raised £58,500 to take part in the five team competition in Asia.

USA and Poland are the other sides taking part in the group stage with Poland up next for Farrell and Lewis-Perry on Wednesday 27th September.

Only the team finishing fifth will be eliminated at the group stage with England looking good for a semi-final spot.

All games are being streamed live via the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association YouTube channel.
