Wokingham & Emmbrook supporter Rebecca Greig gave the club’s new women’s team a perfect start on Sunday with a hat-trick in her first game.

Greig is a regular watching the men’s team in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and would have seen her side hit five at Wembley on Saturday.

On Sunday the striker hit three of her own for the Sumas revived Women’s team as they came from 2-1 down to beat Longford Park FC Vixens.

The team, managed by Rebecca’s dad Stuart, has returned to action at Lowther Road after a couple of season’s of inactivity and is in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Development Division.

According to Sumas Media Officer Andrew Batt, the team is a mix of players coming to football for the first time and players returning to the game after a long time away. Exactly what the Development Division is for.

22-year-old Rebecca is one of those who’d been away having played previously for the Sumas and her team are off to a flying start.

Sunday 17th September is when the team are next in action with Goring United Women Reserves the visitors to Lowther Road.
