The CONCACAF Nations League competition is upon us and that means an exciting away day for several Berkshire footballers from Reading FC right through to Burghfield.
Much like the UEFA Nations League, the CONCACAF version takes a little to wrap your head around but essentially, there are three levels of competition – A, B and C, and within those teams are grouped together in fours at League B and threes at League C.
In League’s B and C those teams play home and away ties between 7th September and 21st November with the winners promoted and in League B, the bottom side relegated to League C.
League A is a bit more complicated in that 12 teams are split into two groups with the top two in each group moving on to a Quarter Final stage where Mexico, USA, Costa Rica and Canada lie in wait.
If that is a bit much, this Wikipedia page proved incredibly helpful at explaining it all.
There’s plenty of Berkshire representation across the competition, here’s a little breakdown for you. Football in Berkshire’s adopted country is always Anguilla thanks to the number of players the island is able to call upon from the Royal County.
