Fan-favourite former Bracknell Town goalkeeper Mark Scott has re-signed for the club but only in an ‘in case of emergency’ situation.

The stopper clarified the news revealed on the Southern League website, that he had returned to the Robins on a dual-registration, confirming he remained very much committed to Basingstoke Town’s Isthmian League promotion push.

Scott wrote: “Just to clarify, I’m very much a Basingstoke Town player and committed to our push for promo. This is purely to support and cover the Robins in case of emergency in their push for a club who have previously supported me.”

Scott was number one at Bracknell for a number of seasons and only lost his place at the start of the 2021/22 season because of injury and the brilliant form of Michael Eacott – the former Sutton Common Rovers goalkeeper.

Eacott remains Bracknell’s number one with the Robins mounting a second successive promotion push from Step 3 this season.

As well as being popular at Bracknell, Scott is a favourite among Slough Town supporters for his role in the Rebels rejuvenation. He looks set now to repeat the trick with Basingstoke.
