Promoting football. That’s what Football in Berkshire does.

If you want to ground hop, play, volunteer, manage, spectate or gaze from afar. Football in Berkshire’s aim when it started was to make local grassroots men’s and women’s football accessible, and visible.

Thanks to our awards ceremony this year we got talking to Ben Thomas and Louisa Sanghera of STAR (the Reading FC Supporters Trust) and subsequently Tom Williams, the founder of Proud Royals and it seemed like there was a mutually beneficial partnership to be had.

Following the group’s announcement of Lily Woodham as an ambassador over the summer and our own coverage Reading FC Women (more on that to come in the next week or so), we felt that if we could help promote Proud Royals activities as not just a Reading FC Supporters group, but a wider LGBTQ+ group then that would be a worthwhile initiative.

We’re very excited to see where this goes, there is a mooted ‘challenge match’ between FiB and PR to come (we’re almost certainly going to need to find some footballing ability for this, and a kit) and we’ll publicise the group’s events. If you have ideas, events, or things you think might benefit from the support of our partnership feel free to get in touch via tom.canning@footballinbracknell.co.uk

Proud Royals and Football in Berkshire are delighted to announce a new partnership which sees Football in Berkshire become an official ambassador of Proud Royals.

We believe that Sport, and in particular, football has the unique ability to connect people from all walks of life and change lives through shared passion.

Football is everyone’s game, and no one should feel excluded from taking part because of who they are, and this partnership connects two organisations who views are very much aligned, together we can celebrate the pride of Berkshire.

For those of you not already familiar with Football in Berkshire, they are a not-for-profit community group dedicated to everything about and related to football in the Royal County of Berkshire.

As part of this newfound partnership, Football in Berkshire will use their platform to champion the group and cause as well as attending proud royals events throughout the year.

We’d like to thank Football in Berkshire for choosing to support Proud Royals and we look forward to working with them to not only celebrate diversity but the wonderful array of football available in Berkshire.

Our Chair and Founder, Tom Williams had this to say following Football in Berkshire becoming an official ambassador of Proud Royals: “I’m very proud to be working with football in Berkshire. Together we can form a great partnership and I’m excited for the future with them welcome onboard.”
