Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One side AFC Hayes have announced the club will revert to its former name Brook House.

Founded as a Sunday League side in 1974 as Brook House, the club changed its name after a first season at Step 4 in 2007, becoming AFC Hayes.

The club remained a Southern League side until 2015 when they finished bottom of the Central Division and were relegated to the Combined Counties League Premier. In 2019 a further relegation occurred with the club now plying its trade in the CCL Division One.

A statement released by the club said: “In other big news the club will no longer be know as AFC Hayes as we are returning to our original name of Brook House FC. We are excited about this and the season ahead, we hope our fans are to.”

The name Brook House comes from the nearby pub, The Brook House on Kingshill Avenue where the club was originally formed. The team still play a short distance from the pub.

The club are the second team to announce a name change this summer in the Combined Counties League with Edgware Town confirming they are to be known as Edgware & Kingsbury Town next season.
