Former Windsor FC striker Barry Hayles has departed from Mertsham FC alongside manager Frank Wilson.

Hayles had been working as assistant manager at the club. However, after a difficult season, the club has been relegated from the Isthmian Premier League.

“As a professiomnal footballer, Barry typifies things I wanted to stand for and I was fortunate to train/play with barry through Jamie Lawrence’s Academhy as a 17 yr old and now later on in life, I’ve worked alongside the man. He’s a winner – a true competitior. Loves and respects the game. I’m pleased we have worked together and hope we continue to do so in any future football roles presented or earned.”

Barry Hayles wore Windsor’s famous Union flag kit for two years between 2017 and 2019 when the Royalists were in the Hellenic Premier League. Hayles has played for many clubs stretching from the late 80s to the present day. He is also an England C and Jamaica international.

We’d like to wish Barry all the best in his new role. It’s always brilliant to see former professionals still so engaged and passionate about football even at non-league level. Hayles made five appearances for Merstham this season.
