The winning goal

Reading were quick on the counter from a Leicester attack with one touch passes from Lily Woodham to Deanne Rose before a smartly weighted ball from Belgian signing, Justine Vanhaevermaet, rolled into the path of a charging Dowie, who took a first touch to knock it on and a second to lob an unsteady and scrambling Lambourne.

Dowie currently sits joint third for goals alongside Chelsea’s Fran Kirby and Arsenal’s, Kim Little having all scored six goals this season.

Dowie was also in contention for ‘Player of the Month’ alongside Manchester United’s Leah Galton and Aoife Mannion, Arsenal’s Beth Mead, Birmingham City’s Lucy Quinn and completing the nominees was Manchester City’s Georgia Stanway. Leah Galton was crowned winner. Reading FC Women manager, Kelly Chambers, was up for ‘Manager of the Month’ too alongside Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor and the winner Mark Skinner, the man in charge of Manchester United.
