Young Reading FC Women star Emma Harries scored for England under 23s on only her second cap as the Lionesses beat Estonia 11-0 on Tuesday night at St. George’s Park.
Harries made her under 23 debut in October against Belgium, coming off the bench for Ebony Salmon in the 86th minute and started the game on Tuesday against Estonia.
The Reading youngster was fresh from scoring a superb breakaway solo strike against Brighton & Hove Albion for her club in the FA WSL the previous Sunday and scored the opener for England after 18 minutes.
The official England Football site reports: “West Ham United midfielder Melisa Filis created the space inside the Estonia half when she found Bo Kearns with a reverse pass. The Liverpool midfielder then slipped the ball through to Harries as the Reading striker timed her run perfectly before slotting the ball past Getriin Strigin when one-on-one.”
Harries was joined in the starting eleven by Maya Le Tissier, who she played against in the game against Brighton, while exciting Liverpool midfielder Missy Bo Kearns also featured and scored a hat-trick for the Lionesses.
